It was never God’s plan that any man should perish, but have eternal life, and that is why we need Jesus (2 Peter 3:9 KJV).
Without Jesus, we all would be doomed to an eternity in hell but because of the love, mercy, and grace of God the Father we were given a second chance through Jesus Christ.
For all have sinned , and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) While we all deserve God’s judgment, our Heavenly Father, sent His only Son to satisfy a debt we could not pay. Jesus who lived a sinless life loves us so much that He died for our sins and paid the price of our sin, and spared us the punishment that we deserved, so that we may have everlasting life.
- For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him -2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)
- But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us- Romans 5:8 (KJV).
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”- John 3:16 (KJV).
What must I do to be saved?
If you want to be saved, you simply exercise your free will and confess Jesus as your savior. Jesus accepts us where we are. No matter what we have done, no matter what our past is, Jesus will forgive it.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved – Romans 10:9 (KJV).
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13 (KJV).
I encourage you to use your own words to confess your sins and ask Jesus in your heart. Your relationship with God is not based on what others tell you to pray or say, but what you feel in your heart. Here is a Psalm, that really helps us though if we are uncertain as what to say.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. 14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. -Psalm 51
…. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
By becoming saved by faith and being born again through Jesus, without a doubt I believe the following:
- We are all sinners. As the Bible says of everyone, (except Christ), we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
- Jesus is the son of God, was sinless, came to earth as man, died upon the cross for all mankind, and rose again three days later (1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
- Jesus covered us with his blood, and not by any works of our own, but by the Grace of Jesus, we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-10).
- We must humble ourselves and confess our sins before Jesus. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
It is only through the redemption and intercessory of Jesus Christ that our sins are pardoned. When we sin, even after salvation, we must confess it to Father. Just as if you are saying sorry to a loved one when you have wronged them. This practice of confession and acknowledging wrongdoing is not for the continued renewal of your salvation, but it is to grow in repentance with a lifelong commitment to God the Father submission to the will of the Father with the guidance of the Spirit of Jesus.
When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden. He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy -Proverbs 28:12-13 (KJV).
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ – 2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV).
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind – Matthew 22:37 (KJV).
Welcome to the family of God, you are loved and a precious soul! As you continue on your journey, I encourage you to begin praying daily, acknowledging God in all things that you do and understanding that he will guide and direct your steps. Read the Bible. Pray. Denying ungodly lust and fleshly desires. Seek his will and not your own.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV).
