And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up. -Isaiah 19:5 (KJV).
It should be noted before we go any further, several sources, Weather Channel, CNN, NY Times, and many others, are all reporting that the demise of the Dead Sea is largely to blame on human actions and climate change. This is typical evolutionist and climate change alarmist responses, all who deny the existence of God, and the prophetic and inerrant WORD OF GOD.
Climate change is a fraud perpetrated to replace the Bible, and to undermine God and his existence. It’s foundation is based on man-made lies that asserts the belief that humans control and sustain the Earth. This is absolute absurdity! God tells us in many passage that it is HE who sustains the earth.(See Psalm 135:6-7, 145:16-17, 104:1-35, Job 33:4;38:33-37, Hebrews 1:3, Colossians 1:16-17, Genesis 8:22, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Acts 17:28, 2 Peter 3:7). “And he is before all things, and by him all things consist,” In all of these passage we learn that God, not man, controls and sustains the earth.
It is important for Christians to recognize this as another antichrist belief system. The Dead Sea is drying up because the earth is dying – just as prophecy tells us!
”..Keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so-called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith…”-1 Timothy 6:20-21 (KJV).
We are told throughout scripture that the earth is dying, and will continue to die until it is destroyed by fire from God. Prophetic passages reveal there will be famines, droughts, disease, pestilence, bodies of water disappearing, mountains falling into the sea, the birds of the air, and the beasts of the field and the fish will be taken away, earthquakes, volcanoes, and violent roaring of the seas, all of these are prophetic signs. But most importantly, events that cannot be controlled by man.
We can and should expect to see an abundance of false theories surfacing before the return of Jesus.
Having said all of that, here is the latest prophetic update in Israel.
According to the environmental organization EcoPeace, The great salt lake that sits nestled between Israel, Jordan and Palestine is retreating from the shores of all three nations at a rate of more than 3 feet per year. In earlier reports, the water was estimated to be vanishing at one foot per year, so this is a dramatic increase.
Water inflow levels have already been reduced to just 5 percent of the original volume, EcoPeace Middle East says, and the sea has already lost over a third of its surface area.
Adding to the problem is the emerging sinkholes (2,000 and counting) which are also draining the sea, and have forced the closure of roads, beaches and farms. Between the sinkholes and the rapid evaporation of the water levels, experts believe that the Dead Sea will be completely dried up by the year 2050.
This news comes one day after reports that the Sea of Galilee (which lies to the North of the Dead Sea) is also drying up at an alarming rate.
Experts say there are many issues contributing to the declining water levels in the Dead Sea.
PBS explains that The Dead sea is really a lake that drains the watershed of the Jordan River, a natural faucet that has been providing less and less water as the years go by;.
“Half of the demise of the Dead Sea is caused by the Jordan River no longer flowing and the diversion of waters that used to run along Jordan to the Dead Sea from the Yarmouk River,” Gidon Bromberg, the Israeli head of Friends of the Earth Middle East environmental group, told PBS.

The dissolved minerals found in the Dead Sea’s waters are believed to be both therapeutic and healing. Historical accounts of the healing minerals are recorded by Aristotle, Queen of Sheba, King Solomon and Cleopatra. This belief holds true to this day, physicians often tell patients with skin problems to soak in the Dead Sea waters.
Among the minerals found in the sea’s water are bromine, which soothes the nerves, and iodine and magnesium, which ease arthritis, rheumatism, psoriasis and skin problems, as well as respiratory complaints. Many come to the Dead Sea to cover themselves in the mud that is believed to hold healing powers.
Other health advantages to the Dead Sea region include the high level of oxygen in the low-altitude air, and evaporating gases, which rise from the sea and create a filter that takes out the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays. Thus the cancerous risks of sunbathing are reduced, despite searing summer temperatures of 40°C (104°F). The winter average is a delightful 21°C (70°F).
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. -Isaiah 58:11 (KJV).
As a result of this, millions of people flock to the sea every year to take advantage of the therapeutic powers, or simply float in the highly saline waters. They, and the industry that springs up to cater to them, are also part of the problem, EcoPeace Middle East says. “We’re literally loving the sea to death.”.
“Additional construction of water parks, shopping malls and urban facilities for the new influx of employees will all place further pressures on the land and water resources,” said EcoPeace Middle East. “Untreated sewage into the Dead Sea from these surrounding areas are projected to increase as well.”
In addition to the millions of visitors, mineral extraction industries are another contributing factor to the declining water levels, reports WC. The minerals found in the Dead Sea are coveted and hailed for their therapeutic benefits, and can be found in cosmetics, fertilizers, and other consumer products. To meet the demand, large-scale extractions are constantly underway. Evaporation and excessive mining of potassium and bromides, have literally split the sea in two.
Earlier this month, in a bid, partly organized by EcoPeace, nearly 30 marathon swimmers from around the world — wanting to bring awareness to the falling water levels — swam the nine-mile Dead Sea stretch from Jordan to Israel.
“We’re here for the first ever Dead Sea swim challenge with 25 swimmers that come from all over the world to send out a clear message to save the Dead Sea, which is shrinking today at an alarming rate,” EcoPeace spokesperson Mira Edelstein told the Associated Press.
Weather Channel reports that the swimmers wore face masks to protect their eyes and mouths, but one swimmer still described the experience as being “like acid burning your eyeballs.”
Jackie Cobell, a British long-distance swimmer, told the AP that the Dead Sea swim was “historic and iconic. This is really important because it’s disappearing fast.”
Photographer Moritz Küstner, who frequents the area regularly to work on his series “The Dying Dead Sea,” stated:
“It’s an unfriendly environment for people to live there or to stay there,” Küstner said. “It’s really salty and if you taste the Dead Sea, it’s not tasting like salty water anymore. It’s just tasting toxic.”
“This is the most important and significant agreement since the peace treaty with Jordan (in 1994),” said Silvan Shalom, Israel’s energy and water resources minister at the time. Whether the canal — estimated to take three years to complete — will work out positively and as planned remains to be seen.
Some think the plan is wrong way to go, however.
“Probably the canal will do more harm than help,” Youval Arbel, deputy director of the Israeli branch of Friends of the Earth, told German broadcaster Deutsche Welle. “The chemistry of the Red Sea is very different to water in the Dead Sea; you cannot simply mix them.”
Arbel suggests tackling the problem at its literal source – the Jordan River. Better water management practices, such installing modern, more efficient irrigation systems or recycling wastewater, would allow more water to follow its natural path to the Dead Sea.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. -James 3:12 (KJV).
But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. -Ezekiel 47:11 (KJV).
Dead Sea Background
There are 4 seas in Israel, Sea of Galilee, The Red Sea, Israel’s Mediterranean Coast, and the Dead Sea.
The Dead Sea lies amid a barren sweep of rocky desert, at the heart of the Syrian-African rift, a 4,000-mile fault line in the earth’s crust, that extends to the valley at the southern outlet of the Jordan River. The Dead Sea sits at the lowest point on earth, 400 meters (1,300ft) below sea level, and is the world’s largest and saltiest body of water. Figures for the saline today range from 26-30 percent salt content, making it ten times as salty as the world’s oceans and twice as salty as the Great Salt Lake in Utah, The salt content is what makes bathers float in its water.
Despite the lack of wildlife in the Dead Sea itself, the region around it is blessed with unique flora and fauna, including endangered species such as ibex, leopards, and hyrax. The wetlands surrounding the Sea support several species, such as the indigenous “Dead Sea Sparrow”, and serve as important resting and breeding sites for millions of migratory birds crossing between Europe and Africa each year, EcoPeace website reads.
It is understandable that man, without God, would fear what is happening in Israel. Their lack of belief has led them to employ measures to counteract the impossible. It should also be noted, that water has long been the root of wars in this region, and previous attempts to rectify the shortages have been met with disastrous results. The reason? Because GOD controls the waters and the events of the Earth, not man. We see that power reflected in many passages of the Bible -parting the Red Sea, blood in the Seas, the Euphrates rising over the Assyrian kings, the Euphrates drying up to allow passage, and the worldwide flood, to name just a few of the examples.
All of what we see happening in Israel and around the world are events that were prophesied thousands of years ago. The shrinking of the Dead Sea is not alarming to the followers of Jesus Christ because It is a testament of prophetic events. The bible refers to those who disbelieve as “willfully ignorant” (2 Peter 3:5-7), and we see this disbelief manifesting through their pointless attempts to stop the inevitable, our Earth from dying (2 Peter 3:10 KJV). We were also warned” that people would worship creation more than their Creator.” This is exactly what Paul writes about in Romans 1:25. We as Christians have to ignore foolish fables of man, and understand them from our Heavenly Father.
There is still a very powerful message in the Dead Sea for us today. As mentioned above, the Dead Sea is incapable of sustaining life because of its high saline content. Like the Dead Sea, the Earth, and all those without Jesus, are destined to die, It is the reality most find hard to accept. Moreover, man, cannot control life, that is only found in Jesus Christ.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. – Luke 9:24 (KJV).
The message we learn from all of this is that ONLY JESUS can give and sustain life, and without JESUS there is no life. That power is represented and evidenced by the current state of the Dead Sea and the world around us, for that matter. Without JESUS, everything dies. The message of Life becomes abundantly clear as we look ahead to two future prophecies about the Dead Sea:
And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.-Zechariah 14:8 (KJV).
8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. -Ezekiel 47:8-9 (KJV).
These prophecies, also corresponding with verses in Revelation 22:1 and Ezekiel 47:1, reveal that upon the return of Jesus, during his millennial reign, all LIFE will be restored, the waters healed, and the LIVING WATERS will be flowing from the east under the Temple of Jerusalem. Those living waters are referring to the Dead Sea, it’s “Life” restored because of JESUS our King and Savior.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. -John 7:38
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: – Isaiah 44:3 (KJV).

Dead Sea Biblical Background
The Dead Sea is known in the bible as “Vale of Siddim and the Salt Sea” (Genesis 14:3) in Joshua 3:16, it is called “Plains Sea.” Zechariah 14:8 refers to it by location, calling it the Former Sea (which means early and east) Scientists have given the Dead Sea its name due to the fact that the water in its current state, cannot sustain life.
The Dead Sea is rich in biblical history, serving as a location for many stories we read about in the bible. Abraham warred there (Genesis 14:3), Sodom and Gomorrah Kings fell into pits located by the Dead Sea (Genesis 14:10), David hid there from King Saul (I Samuel 23:29)., Ezekiel had many visions there, the story of Masada happened nearby, the prophet Elijah ascended into the heavens in a chariot of fire there (II Kings 2:6), and Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist (John 1:28). In 2 Chronicles 20, we read that the Dead Sea was used as a barrier to block traffic from Judah to the east. The advancing Ammonites and Moabites crossed the Dead Sea on their way to attack King Jehoshaphat.
- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; -Haggai 2:6 (KJV).
- And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.– Isaiah 11:15 (KJV).
- He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.-Isaiah 23:11 (KJV).
- I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools – Isaiah 42:15 (KJV).
- Behold, by my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert; their fish stink for lack of water and die of thirst -Isaiah 50:2 (KJV).
- How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished – Jeremiah 12:4 (KJV).
- Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry. -Jeremiah 51:36 (KJV).
- Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth -Job 12:15 (KJV).
- For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.– Matthew 24:7 (KJV).
- And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.-Revelation 16:12 (KJV).
- And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be – Zechariah 14:8 (KJV).
- I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD. – Zephaniah 1:3 (KJV).
The Euphrates River is also drying up, another prophecy we read about in Revelation, in the First Six Bowls of Wrath – the rivers dry up to make a passage for the kings of the east:
And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared – Revelation 16:12.
We notice that the Euphrates dry up to let the Kings pass through.
Compare to the enemies Daniel wrote about: But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many – Daniel 11:44 (KJV).
