It appears that females will not be the only ones with the ability to carry babies. Now that “uterine transplants” have become a reality, we will soon be able to count male pregnancy as the next item on the Antichrist agenda.
So far, a Swedish research team from the University of Gothenberg has performed nine uterus transplants resulting in five pregnancies and four live births.
“The exciting work from the investigators in Sweden demonstrated that uterine transplantation can result in the successful delivery of healthy infants,” said Cleveland Clinic lead investigator Andreas Tzakis.
The New York Times reported that a clinic in Cleveland, Ohio will soon perform the first uterus transplant in the United States, echoing the research and procedure already carried out successfully in Sweden. The hospital plans to perform the procedure ten times as an experiment, and decide whether they want to continue. If all goes well, then women born without uteruses or who have suffered uterine damage may soon be able to get pregnant, albeit through an invasive and risky procedure.
According to researchers, the surgery is “still considered highly experimental”.
Not only are the women exposed to the risks of surgery and potential organ rejection, but the pregnancies are considered to be “high-risk,” with the fetuses exposed to anti-rejection drugs and growing inside a uterus from a dead person.
In as little as five years, Doctors theorize, men and transgender women could receive a uterus transplant allowing them to carry a baby to term and give birth — all thanks to mad science.
“My guess is five, 10 years away, maybe sooner,” Dr Karine Chung, director of the fertility preservation program at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, told Yahoo Health.
The procedure could also serve trans women, or men who want to become pregnant
According to Rebecca Flyckt, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Cleveland Clinic who is part of the team that plans to perform the first US uterus transplant in the next few months, it is technically possible, although unsurprisingly, it is much more difficult:
“Although theoretically this would be possible, it would be a huge surgical and endocrinologic undertaking and involve not just the creation of a vagina but also surgical reconstruction of the whole pelvis by someone skilled in transgender surgery,” Flyckt told the Times. “After this procedure and the grafting of a donor uterus, a complex hormone regimen would be required to support a pregnancy prior to and after embryo transfer (although this could be done, as we provide similar hormone regimens to menopausal women to support a pregnancy).”
Men’s physiology has traditionally meant that they lack an environment suitable to house a fetus during a pregnancy, but modern medicine is rapidly catching up.
“Today, medical advances let transgender women adjust their biochemistry to suppress male and introduce female hormones, have breasts that can lactate, and obtain surgically constructed vaginas that include a ‘neoclitoris’, which allows sensation,” says Chung.
The surgery is complicated and there are dangers involved, but for many women the benefits are worth the risks – something that could also be true for a number of men and transgender women in future.
“I’d bet just about every transgender person who is female will want to do it, if it were covered by insurance,” Dr Christine McGinn, a US plastic surgeon who performs transgender surgeries on men and women, told Yahoo.
There are still a number of problems that will need to be overcome in order to achieve male pregnancy, including the lack of pelvic ligaments to support the presence of a uterus, a cervix, as well as transplanting an embryo into a transplanted womb without building a vagina. However, these issues do not mean that it will be an impossible undertaking.
“Male and female anatomy is not that different,” says Chung. “Probably at some point, somebody will figure out how to make that work.”
Most likely, if the procedure is successful with women, then it will eventually be used for trans women as well. There are things that have to be ironed out before doctors can tackle this next item.
“The interesting thing is that these embryos would be created using the patient’s sperm (rather than eggs as in our protocol) and a partner or donor’s eggs. This sperm would have had to be frozen prior to their transgender surgery, which people are doing more routinely now. I did anticipate that there would be interest in this application of uterine transplant from the Trans community; however, our protocol is limited at this time to women without a functioning uterus.” – says Dr. says Dr Rebecca Flyckt.
In the fifth episode of Star Trek, entitled “Unexpected”: Enterprise Commander Trip Tucker discovers that he has been impregnated by an alien. After discovering a strange growth on his lower arm, Tucker is examined by Dr. Phlox, who informs him that the strange growth is actually a nipple, and that he is, WOW, PREGNANT.
His pregnancy resulted from playing a pebble “game” with a female engineer. The doctor tells him that apparently the “game” transferred genetic data to him. Tucker is not biologically related to the embryo but is merely being used as a ‘host’ to grow the embryo.
Then there is Junior (1994) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger who learns what its like to be a “pregnant man”
Rabbit Test (1978) starring Billy Crystal, is about the world’s first “pregnant man” basically the same plot.
Several feminist science fiction novels, including Marge Piercy’s Woman on the Edge of Time or Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness, create utopian societies in which both men and women experience pregnancy.
Lord only knows what other plans they have for this technology. I have plenty of opinions, but they are conjecture at this point. One thing is for certain, satan is on a mission to alter all of God’s creations. On the bright side, we know that the time is winding down.
