Only Because Of Our Heavenly Father: Once Barren and Plagued by Drought, The Driest Desert In the World Is Now Covered in Flowers

COPIAPO, CHILE: The Atacama Desert, one of the driest deserts on Earth, is experiencing an explosion of color as a rare springtime bloom of flowers covers every hillside.

In Spanish, the event is known as “desierto florido,” or “flowery desert.”

This story is an amazing phenomenon that defies the foolish wisdom of man, providing yet another example of the colossal and majestic power of our Heavenly Father.

22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?24 By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?25 Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;26 To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;27 To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?28 Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew? -Job 38:22-28 (KJV).

Many will dismiss this, but I knew, I felt it the minute that I read this story. The LORD in all his majesty is speaking. He is speaking through the desert, decades of barren land, the driest desert on earth, is alive, booming with an explosion of flowers.  It is beyond amazing, it is incredible.  It is powerful. Do you perceive it? YES LORD, I perceive it, I see your hand at work, the one who brings the rains and dries up lands, the one whose causes flowers to grow. YES Lord, you are speaking. I feel it. I know it.

The explosion of color is the result of The Lord’s visit to Chile’s Atacama desert by way of unprecedented rains that swept through the region earlier this year, watering seeds that had lain dormant in the ground for years. After the rare and unusual rainfalls, the Lord blessed the barren land and carpeted it with an enormous blanket of colorful flowers!

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire. -Isaiah 29:6 (KJV).

Most of the time, the desert is an otherworldly, forbidding landscape of steep, rocky hillsides, salt lakes and old lava flows. However, this year, the heaviest rains in two decades hit the region, causing mudslides and overflowing rivers that killed 30 people. In one day in March alone, the town of Antofagasta, Chile was battered with 0.9 inches (23 mm) of rain, the equivalent of seven years of precipitation, turning the entire town into a river of mud, according to The Weather Channel.

The Atacama Desert, surrounded by the Andes Mountains in Chile, is the driest place on Earth.

When you compare the barren land to the newly sprung flowers, you will understand why the transformation is so incredible!

Unlike more familiar deserts, like the Sahara desert in Africa and the Mojave in California, the Atacama is actually a pretty cold place, with average daily temperatures ranging between 0°C and 25°C.

Many times this area will go without rainfall at all for years. Some places in the Atacama Desert have not had rainfall for over 400 years. The annual rainfall (or lack thereof) defines a desert, but that doesn’t mean that it never rains in Atacama. Located just to the east of the warmest ocean water on the globe, Atacama every so often gets a visit by the Lord. The warming effect over the Pacific Ocean around the equator changes the weather the world over and even places like the driest desert in the world can become doused with drenching storms.

Historic rainfall since March has been catastrophic for the surrounding areas in Chile, but has left the desert transformed.

In an average year, this desert is a very dry place. Arica, Chile, in the northern Atacama holds the world record for the longest dry streak, having gone 173 months without a drop of rain in the early 20th century. In another Atacama neighbor to the south of Arica, the average annual rainfall in the city of Antofagasta is just 0.07 inches.

In March, heavy thunderstorms brought 0.96 inches of rain in one day to parts of the Atacama Desert. This doesn’t seem like that much, but it was a huge rainfall event for the desert — over 14 years of rain in one day. The torrent caused the typically dry Copiapo River to swell far beyond its banks.

Even though Atacama gets almost no rainfall, and is known as the driest place on earth, it is awash with color after a year’s worth of EXTREME rainfall doused the area in a short amount of time.

Interestingly, Death Valley has also been overflowing this month. The official weather station at Death Valley National Park recorded 0.55 inches of rain on Oct. 5. That might not seem like a lot, but it’s a bucket-load for the world’s hottest location — enough to tie the wettest 24-hour period on record in the month of October.

“A series of unusual storms in October caused large amounts of damage throughout Death Valley National Park,” park officials wrote on Facebook. “Flash floods destroyed significant portions of multiple roads and heavily damaged several historic structures at Scotty’s Castle and deposited debris in Devils Hole.”

Those rare winter rains also watered the parched landscape, nourishing flower seeds that had been buried in the ground for years. The result? A dazzling carpet of pinks, oranges, yellows and purples as far as the eye can see. (AFP Photo/Carlos Aguilar)

It isn’t just Chile that has seen unusual weather either. Everyone has taken notice of the unusual weather.happening all over the world. These events are no doubt prophetic!  Of course, scientists would have all of us believe it is “climate change” driving all these disruptive weather patterns.

“Keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so-called:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith…” – 1 Timothy 6:20-21 (KJV).

Make no mistake about it, EL NINO, global warming/climate change are all veneers to mask the truth.  This is all YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER!

But 200 other plant species have also popped up because of the rains, according to LiveScience.

Job tells us that God uses weather and disasters for correction and mercy, and sometimes to stop evil plans of wicked men. God’s sole purpose is to bring people and nations to repentance. All weather events are the result of God.

“He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy Job 37:13 (KJV).

As we study the bible, we see countless examples of God bringing forth rain, hail, lightning, snow, drying up lands, causing famines or causing budding fruit and herbs, verse after verse confirms that it is God, not mother nature, not man, but GOD. As we can clearly see in this story, it is a show of mercy and at the same time, a sure sign of God’s colossal power!

But don’t take my word for it, read the scriptures for yourself.  I have included some of the scriptures in the prophecy section below. I especially encourage you to read Psalm 96.

The area is part of Chile’s Pan de Azúcar National Park.

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries – Psalm 135:7 (KJV).

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word: – Psalm 148:8 (KJV).

Who else could make a drought-stricken, barren land turn into an explosion of budding blooms?

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God. – Isaiah 35:1-2 (KJV).

Yellows, reds, purples and whites have covered the normally stark landscapes of the Atacama, where temperatures top 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) this time of year. So three unusual events are taking place, extreme rainfalls in a place where little if any rain falls at all, high temperature, and flowers growing on barren, drought-stricken lands!

“This year has been particularly special, because the amount of rainfall has made this perhaps the most spectacular of the past 40 or 50 years,” said Raul Cespedes, a desert specialist at the University of Atacama.

From violet-and-white Chilean bell flowers, or “countryside sighs” (Nolana paradoxa), to red “lion claws” (Bomarea ovallei), to yellow Rhodophiala rhodolirion, they have filled the normally pale desert valleys with rivers of color.

13 He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. 24 O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches. 30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. 33 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. – Psalm 104 :13, 24, 30,32 (KJV).

The Desert Comes Alive By the Majestic Powers of God

The usually heavy rainfall in the world’s driest desert has sprung forth new life. Isn’t God Amazing!!

It is God, who has caused dormant flower bulbs and rhizomes – underground stems that grow horizontally – to germinate.

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. -1 Corinthians 3:7 (KJV).

They first bloomed in March, after heavy rains that caught the region by surprise and caused massive floods that killed more than 30 people. They are now blooming for the second time this year, at the outset of the southern hemisphere summer.

“When you think of the desert, you think of total dryness, but there’s a latent ecosystem here just waiting for certain conditions to arise,” said Cespedes.

While Cespedes thinks the desert flowers are “nature’s consolation for what has been a devastating year for Atacama,” they are in fact, a show of mercy by God, not by nature.

“The Atacama region was punished, but also blessed by the phenomenon of a flourishing desert, something that happens only after the rains, this time brought about by El Niño and climate change,” Atacama National Tourism Service Director Daniel Diaz said.

Tourist Are Coming to see the Beauty of God

“This is a very unusual phenomenon. Because of the floods in March there was an exceptional winter bloom, which had never before been recorded… and then there was another bloom in spring,” said Daniel Diaz, director of the National Tourism Service for Atacama region.

“Two flowerings a year is very unusual in the most arid desert in the world, and that’s something we’ve been able to enjoy this spring, along with people from all over the world. There’s a lot of interest in seeing it,” he told AFP.

The region has seen a 40 percent increase in tourists since the flowers began blooming.

The vast desert of northern Chile has seen an explosion of thousands of species of flowers with an intensity not seen in decades.

“It is so unusual, yet so real,” said British tourist Edward Zannahand, who made a special stop in Atacama on what he described as a road trip around the world.

In all his splendid glory, unimaginable to us, the LORD IS SPEAKING.  I read this article and I wept. I heard the Word of God, written by his prophets echo in my heart…do you perceive it? YES LORD, I perceive it. I see you Lord, though you remain invisible, I hear you Lord, though others may not be listening, I feel you Lord, like an overwhelming river bursting. I see your mercy, your love, calling the nations to repent, showing them who is reigning, Lord Jesus. I don’t know if they see your hand at work but yes, I understand it LORD!

We should expect that God will address those who challenge his authority over the control of the earth.  He will indeed answer the scoffers and the railers, Evolutionists, Theosophists, Pantheists, and all unbelievers, and it will defy everything they teach.  God will raise his hand in a manner that no one expects.

That POWER—which is troubling the world—will manifest by defying nature and the theories of man, the laws of nature will reverse in supernatural events, and the voice of GOD will be heard and seen as the infliction of these events will shake the earth and the hearts of man- defying every theory they put forth.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; -Haggai 2:6 (KJV).

The park is popular for hiking and mountain biking. But the main attraction now, of course, is the flowers.

If there be any person unsaved who reads this, please see these phenomenal events as God’s way of speaking to us, warning us. We should never take for granted the beauty of these divine miracles that defy the laws of nature. Nor should we dismiss them to science.  God has always used  events such as these, to get our attention.  I pray that many will start to listen.

Only God could create such beauty….amazing!

Our lesson: where there is death, Jesus brings life. What was of old, JESUS makes new. Only through Jesus.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. – Romans 8:11 (KJV).

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.-John 5:21 (KJV).

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV).
