According to the reports there were more people who were unaccounted for.
Teheran, the capital of Iran was battered by torrential rainfall and strong winds, brought by a sudden summer storm onset on Sunday afternoon. The strongest damage was inflicted upon the northern, northwestern and western areas of the capital.
The force of the runoff from the flooding was so strong that dozens of cars were swept away including some with passengers inside.
Heavy winds with speeds reaching up to 80 km/h (49.7 mph) brought down a number of trees, damaged local buildings and caused the power outage across the provinces. The floods caused extensive damage across the affected areas, inundating villages and blocking traffic routes.
A flash flood was reported to pull cars off the mountainous Chalous Road into the Karaj River in the Alborz province. 151 mm (5.9 inches) of rain was measured in the city of Nowshahr in a 24 hour period, on July 19.
The rescue teams have been dispatched across the affected area, searching the riverbanks, as the officials have warned the number of victims may still rise.
The rainstorm is forecasted to continue to sweep the area of north Iran over the next 24 hours.

How many disasters, crimes, events, does it take to get our attention? Jesus warned us ahead of time in Matthew, Luke, Amos, Micah, Isaiah, Revelation, numerous prophecies about impending destruction and events! I pray that any person in Christ who reads this, is not troubled, but in peace. Peace because Jesus keeps his promises, as told to us in His Word, because He is alive and watching now. I cannot help but think of the Iran nuclear deal after seeing this story.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid – John 14:27 (KJV).
Injustice and wickedness will be defeated and banished forever into the pits of hell. The saved, Christ’s elect, will be vindicated. Jesus is coming – are you ready?
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped – Isaiah 35: 4-5 (KJV).
If there be any person unsaved who reads this, please see these phenomenal events as God’s way of speaking to us, warning us. He has always used natural events to get our attention. He is doing this because he is merciful, and wants to help us, so we can see our dependence on him. Only Jesus can help us – only Jesus can sustain and deliver us.
He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy- Job 37:13 (KJV).
What will it take to get the attention of people and nations rebelling against God? A bigger dust storm? More deaths? More floods? More volcano eruptions? More earthquakes? More devastation and destruction? I pray that this be the day of your salvation.
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed – Romans 13:11 (KJV).
