Priests in Tokyo Perform Funerals for the ‘Souls’ of Pet Robots

We gather here today, in loving memory of all AIBO dogs, may their souls rest in peace.  Wait, what?  Japanese owners are convinced AIBO dogs have souls. Owners of the robot dogs are holding funerals for their beloved pets, since Sony has closed the ‘repair clinics’ that used to fix them.  Tokyo priests are happy to oblige the services, adding, the dogs are sent in peace to the afterlife.  Crazy, right?  But wait, there is more.

AIBO pet dogs are the world’s first home entertainment robots with artificial intelligence (AI). They can speak, sense, and express their feelings – which encourages many owners to treat the toys as real family members. The gadgets are even known for developing their own unique personalities.

“I believe owners feel they have souls as long as they are with them,” said Nobuyuki Narimatsu, 59, who heads an electronics repair company specialising in fixing vintage products.

A quick peek at the AIBO‘s website reveals some mind bending propaganda:
  • AIBO-Life, and then “Raise your AIBO from a baby to an adult.”
  • “The newest addition to the Family”
  • “AIBO – A Man’s best Friend”

Bungen Oi, a priest at the 450-year-old Kofukuji temple in Isumi, east of Tokyo, says the AIBO service last month was an occasion on which the robots’ souls could pass from their bodies.

“I was thrilled over the interesting mismatch of giving cutting-edge technology a memorial service in a very conventional manner,” he said.

Kofuku-ji temple chief priest Bungen Oi (3rd R), A-Fun president Nobuyuki Norimatsu (3rd L), A-Fun supervisor Hiroshi Funabashi (2nd R) and other A-Fun employee hold Sony’s pet robot AIBOs prior to holding the robots’ funeral at the Kofuku-ji temple in Isumi.

Many who bought the dog robots now feel abandoned by Sony, which stopped making AIBOs in 2006.  Sony sold more than 150,000 units between 1999 – when they were created – and 2006. Each one cost 250,000 yen (over $2,000).

In March 2014, Sony announced that it was closing its doors on the last repair ‘clinic.’  With no further production of the ‘dogs’, it has created a massive shortage of spare parts. One of the owners, Mori, had her AIBO for eight years. “I never thought there was a limit to his life,” she told AFP.

When her faithful friend broke, Sony referred her to a company called A FUN, which specializes in repairing the robots.

“For those who keep AIBOs, they are nothing like home appliances. It’s obvious they think their (robotic pet) is a family member,” said a worker from A-FUN.

Hiroshi Funabashi, 61, who supervises repairs at A FUN, said troubled AIBO owners think of him more as a doctor than an engineer.

“The word ‘repair’ doesn’t fit here,” he told AFP at his home in Kasama, north of Tokyo. Scattered around him are dozens of AIBOs sent in with problems owners typically describe as “aching joints”.

Funabashi says he does not enhance the functions of aged AIBOs, but tries to restore them to health. The problem is that repairs can take weeks or even months because of a shortage of spare parts. Dozens of AIBOs are now “hospitalised”, with more than 180 on the waiting list.

But with a shortage of spare parts, the dogs are becoming more difficult to repair.

The only source of genuine parts are “dead” robots, who become donors for organ transplantation, but only once the proper respects have been paid.

In fact, the situation is starting to resemble the concerns of the popular cartoon WALL-E, and the storyline of AI. All which raises the issue of souls and the human treatment of machines equipped with AI.

The idea that “robots” have a soul, or are equated to ‘living beings’ was the exact goal of this technological movement.  I picture the elite powers behind this movement, laughing, with a checklist in their hand:

  • Create technology that people need
  • 1206572971625599228jetxee_check_sign_and_cross_sign_3.svg.hiMake cute robotic gadgets that attract buyers
  • 1206572971625599228jetxee_check_sign_and_cross_sign_3.svg.hiUse technology to solve medical problems
  • 1206572971625599228jetxee_check_sign_and_cross_sign_3.svg.hiMake people addicted to technology by doing all the above
  • 1206572971625599228jetxee_check_sign_and_cross_sign_3.svg.hiCreate Robots that act and behave like humans

While humanity stands awe-struck by positive outcomes of this technology, such as providing speech to those impaired by neurological diseases and movement to the paralyzed, beware, there is more sinister things to come.  We are now seeing the new trend of “robot as humans’, and moreover, people believing that robots are in fact a ‘life.’ As indicated in the views expressed by these ‘robotic dog owners.’  Once scientists figure out how to make robots autonomous, that is when the real trouble will manifest.

Propelled by the occult teachings of evolutionists, AI is the next plateau and next item on this checklist. The Transhumanist utopia of ‘The Singularity’ –the moment when artificial intelligence surpasses humans to such an extent, humans will become obsolete. From apes, to man, to AI.  They call that evolving.

The bait was technology, addiction came next, making humans think robots are humans, and now for the acceptance of robots as the new super species.  We have arrived at the point where, not only will people accept them as a form of life,  but will embrace the next plan of this technology – the convergence of man as a cyborg.  Problem is, these very robots they find cute, are the very ones that science is planning to replace humanity with.

Many scientists have sounded the warning bell, and expressed the view that further development of AI will spell out doomsday for the human race.

“Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete and would be superseded,”world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking said in December. “The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race.”

1termigater_228x365Bill Gates also warned that artificial intelligence poses a real threat to humankind, stating he “does not understand” those who are not concerned with the notion. “First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent…a few decades after that, though, the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern. I agree with Elon Musk and some others on this and don’t understand why some people are not concerned,” he said.

Billionaire entrepreneur and inventor Elon Musk has expressed his own worries around the dangers of artificial intelligence, and has donated $10 million towards a global research program to ensure AI remains beneficial to humanity.

Despite concern coming from leading scientists and tech experts, Japanese telecom giant Softbank is planning to begin mass production of the humanoid ‘Pepper’ later this year.  Pepper is priced at $2,000.

Developers have high hopes for the robot in the future, as the company will try to teach the machine to imitate human emotions.

This blurring of lines means more people could feel the kind of attachment that AIBO owners know so well, said A FUN’s Funabashi.

“I don’t know if people will develop an affection (towards a new generation of robots) in five, six years’ time,” he said. “But I think we need to recognise they are not ordinary electrical devices,” says Funabashi.

Bungen Oi, the priest who performs the funerals says,  humans will probably become more used to robots, as  they become ever more part of our lives.

On the note that ‘robots’ can obtain a soul, the bible clearly teaches that a ‘soul’ is God breathed, God does not breathe life into a machine. The only afterlife, for those practicing false religions, worshiping of false gods and idols, is hell.   For those that are saved, and believe in Jesus, your redemptive promise and seal to eternal salvation is the the HOLY SPIRIT (Isaiah 2:22, Ephesians 1:13-14). Which as planned by satan, was removed in these robots. There is no soul, nor does the holy spirit exist in ‘robots,’ no matter how lifelike they seem.

In the faithful service of Jesus Christ, our risen King and Savior,

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry – 2 Timothy 4:3-5 (KJV).
